The legislature’s budget writing committee is holding four hearings across the state to gather public input on the state budget (see below for dates and locations).. 

Committee members have shared with us how helpful it is to have real people share their stories and illustrate what makes a difference in their lives, and where improvements are needed.

The state budget determines how much money will be spent on different programs and services important to people with disabilities like: 

  • Education
  • Transportation
  • Long Term Care (Family Care, IRIS, Children’s Long Term Support)
  • Medicaid services (like personal care, dental care)
  • Employment

Joint Finance Committee hearings are an important opportunity for people with disabilities and their families to highlight budget proposals for the committee. We’ve included a list of proposals that our analysis concludes would benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities that you can use to help you prepare written comments for Joint Finance. We have also partnered with Disability Rights Wisconsin and The ARC Wisconsin to provide Budget training sessions around the state for people with disabilities and their families.
