Registration is now open for the 2022 Hybrid Self-Determination Conference! Self determination means taking control of your life. Join us in October for one of the biggest events for people with disabilities and the people who support them. Learn how to live more independently, participate more in your community, and direct your public funds efficiently.

The Kalahari Resort is holding a block of guest rooms for October 17 & 18, 2022. Room rates are $129 for single, double, triple or quad rooms.

Present at the Conference!

Are you interested in presenting at the 2022 Self-Determination Conference?  We are seeking session proposals for Tuesday, October 18 & Wednesday, October 19, 2022.    

This year’s theme: Everyone has a story; Your voice matters will help people with disabilities lead more Self-Determined lives by recognizing the valued role communities play in our lives!

Things to know when submitting a proposal:

  • Proposals must include a self-advocate(s) as a lead or co-presenter.
  • Panels should be limited to no more than 3 people.  
  • Conference sessions must support Self-Determination and Self-Directed principles.
  • Presentations will be in person and on video this year. Activity and tools must be available on both platforms. Presentations should focus on practical, take-home strategies that people can implement in their work and lives.
  • Sessions should not promote specific agencies or products.
  • Repeat or similar sessions from previous conferences will not be considered.
  • Sessions will be 1.5 hours in length.
  • A typical session has an audience of 50-75 attendees.

The Self-Determination Conference is one of Wisconsin’s biggest events for people with disabilities and the people who support them. Last year over 1100 people attended the conference virtually! Your support will help us provide even more opportunities for self-advocates, to attend the conference in-person!

Your support will help provide scholarships, interpreter and translation services, conference kits to all attendees (mailed), support local watch parties, technology and a high quality in-person and virtual experience. Please help us continue to empower Self-Advocacy and Self-Direction in Wisconsin.

Display your Microenterprise!

Calling all Microbusiness owners and Artists!

We love our Marketplace! Microbusinesses run and created by people with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Artists can sell their products and/or services.

You will also have the unique opportunity to join our marketplace and sell online, not only at the Self-Determination Conference but all year long! Support is available to help you through the process. For more information about the All Abilities Market, visit www.allAmarket.org.

Display as an Exhibitor

Calling all Wisconsin organizations that support self-determination and self-directed support in Wisconsin. We encourage you to submit an exhibitor’s application. This Year’s Conference will be held in person as well as offer a virtual option for attendees.

Only applications from exhibitors that directly support self-determination and self-direction in WI will be accepted. All applications will be reviewed by a committee and selected based on interest, needs, variety and mission of the conference. We are particularly interested in having exhibitors with innovative approaches to services and supports for self- direction including the use of technology to help people with disabilities live full and inclusive lives.  Exhibits will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 18-19th. Applications must be submitted by July 20, 2022

Nominate an Advocate for the Diehard Award

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to improve the lives of  individuals with disabilities?  A Diehard is an individual who has made a significant contribution to the advocacy work here in Wisconsin. They are someone who is committed to  integration and self-determination. Nominate them for the Diehard Award to be presented at this year’s conference.
