The Wisconsin Legislature established the Partners with Business initiative in 2017 to assist businesses interested in hiring and employing people with disabilities using an evidence-based coaching model.

BPDD’s Partners with Business initiative helps employers and service providers support workers with disabilities to be successful and independent at work using an evidence based coaching model.

During the past state fiscal year, Partners with Business provided grant funds and coaching to four public school districts and two businesses. 12 new jobs were obtained by people with disabilities and 58 new
business partnerships were created. These strategies result in cost-effective, flexible, inclusive employment, and help businesses improve their bottom line and workplace diversity goals. These best practices also result in savings to the Medicaid system due to a reduction in the number of Medicaid funded job coaching support hours needed.
