Wisconsin’s Supported Decision-Making Law took effect in Spring of 2018. Supported Decision-Making is one alternative to guardianship that allows people with disabilities and older adults to retain their legal rights.

This statewide training will cover:

  • What Supported Decision-Making is
  • What alternatives to guardianship are available in Wisconsin
  • How to use Supported Decision-Making strategies, both as an alternative to guardianship and within existing guardianships
  • Legal responsibilities of Supported Decision-Making
  • Stories of how Wisconsin residents have used Supported Decision-Making

This statewide training is for:

  • Person with a disability/older adult
  • Family member and/or guardian of a person with a disability or older adult
  • Aging and Disability Resource Center Staff
  • Managed Care and IRIS staff
  • Department of Health Services employees
