The Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition (WDVC) is a non-partisan effort to increase voting turnout and participation in the electoral process among members of Wisconsin’s disability community. The WDVC is funded by the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities and Disability Rights Wisconsin.
What the coalition does:
Encourages organizations to conduct local get-out-the-vote drives and outreach
Educates the disability community about voting rights and access issues
Lets elected officials know that people with disabilities are voters and a growing voter bloc
Increases voter turnout among people with disabilities and their allies.
Sponsors local candidate forums to educate people about where candidates stand on disability issues.
Works with the Government Accountability Board to asure access to the polls.
Since 2008, the Wisconsin Disability Vote Coalition has increased the number of people with disabilities who vote by 15%.
