When: 9:30-11 a.m.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>February 21st<\/sup>, <\/strong>2019 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Where:\u00a0<\/strong>Multiple<\/strong> employer locations within walking distance of the Capitol: more specifics provided when you register<\/strong><\/p>\n

What:\u00a0<\/strong>We invite you to see first-hand what community employment can look like statewide, including for people with the most significant disabilities. Hear what employers have to say about the value of hiring people with disabilities. The innovative supports these employees receive are cost-effective, resulting in people earning higher wages in a job that is individualized to their skills and interests – all while meeting an employer\u2019s needs.\u00a0 Last Spring Wisconsin enacted Employment First legislation (Act 178<\/a>) requiring state agencies to make competitive integrated employment a priority. This tour will help you understand policies that contribute to Employment First success.<\/p>\n

    In Dane County, about 890 employers of all types and sizes employ more than 840 people with developmental disabilities.\u00a0 These individuals earn more than $3.86 million in wages each year.\u00a0 Join us to see examples of these businesses and the innovative and effective supports provided.<\/p>\n
