What are SPARKS Grants?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The purpose of SPARKS Grants is to organize local grassroots groups to make changes<\/strong> in their communities that result in a positive impact on the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I\/DD), including individuals with diverse identities and\/or individuals that are underserved.<\/strong> *<\/p>\n

Grassroots community organizing<\/strong> means groups that are led by individuals with disabilities together with their allies, who are working for positive community change for individuals with I\/DD on issues that are important to them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Priority activities<\/strong> for 2018-19 SPARKS Grants<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n

  1. Increasing transportation<\/strong> options for people with I\/DD<\/li>\n
  2. Increasing the number of people with I\/DD voting<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    What have been some of the accomplishments of past SPARKS Grants?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    SPARKS grants started in 2010<\/strong> and have had many positive results<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Creation of an accessible parks in Oshkosh and Glendale.<\/li>\n
    • Expansion of the bus transportation system in the Wausau area.<\/li>\n
    • Development of unique job opportunities at local organic farms in Kickapoo, WI.<\/li>\n
    • Creation of an accessible garden, community room and kitchen in Stevens Point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      What can you expect from BPDD? <\/strong><\/p>\n

      Each SPARKS Grant recipient will receive ongoing coaching\/technical assistance<\/strong> to help you get started on your project as well as throughout your project.\u00a0 You will also have opportunities to share your project ideas and resources<\/strong> with other grant recipients from around the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
