{"id":2474,"date":"2018-06-12T19:39:45","date_gmt":"2018-06-12T19:39:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wi-bpdd.org\/?p=2474"},"modified":"2018-08-01T14:05:12","modified_gmt":"2018-08-01T14:05:12","slug":"sparks-grants-applications-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wi-bpdd.org\/index.php\/2018\/06\/12\/sparks-grants-applications-available\/","title":{"rendered":"SPARKS Grants: Applications Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What are SPARKS Grants?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of SPARKS Grants is to <strong>organize local grassroots groups to make changes<\/strong> in their communities that result in a <strong>positive impact on the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I\/DD), including individuals with diverse identities and\/or individuals that are underserved.<\/strong> *<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grassroots community organizing<\/strong> means groups that are led by individuals with disabilities together with their allies, who are working for positive community change for individuals with I\/DD <strong>on issues that are important to them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Priority activities<\/strong> for <strong>2018-19 SPARKS Grants<\/strong> are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Increasing transportation<\/strong> options for people with I\/DD<\/li>\n<li><strong>Increasing the number of people with I\/DD voting<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wi-bpdd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/2018-19-SPARKS-Grant-Application2.docx\">Application Packet<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"318\"><strong>Activity:<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"240\"><strong>Date:<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"318\"><strong>Applications released<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"240\"><strong>June 15, 2018<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"318\"><strong>Applications Due<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"240\"><strong>August 31, 2018<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"318\"><strong>Review process complete\/applications ranked<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"240\"><strong>September 14, 2018<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"318\"><strong>Start date of contract<\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"240\"><strong>October 1, 2018<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>What have been some of the accomplishments of past SPARKS Grants?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SPARKS grants <strong>started in 2010<\/strong> and have had many <strong>positive results<\/strong>, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creation of an accessible parks in Oshkosh and Glendale.<\/li>\n<li>Expansion of the bus transportation system in the Wausau area.<\/li>\n<li>Development of unique job opportunities at local organic farms in Kickapoo, WI.<\/li>\n<li>Creation of an accessible garden, community room and kitchen in Stevens Point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What can you expect from BPDD?
