November shines a light on caregivers and Alzheimer’s Disease.<\/p>\n

November is\u00a0 Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness and Caregivers Month. President Ronald Reagan designated November as National Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Awareness Month in 1983. At the time, fewer than 2 million Americans had Alzheimer\u2019s; today, the number of people with the disease has soared to nearly 5.4 million.<\/p>\n

At the Annual Fall Caregiver Conference in Green Bay, the Mind and Memory Matters team provided information on intellectual\/developmental disabilities and dementia, suggested specialized caregiving tips, and training on the NTG-EDSD tool. This annual forum, held Thursday, November 2nd, was sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater WI Chapter. It featured presentations from researchers, clinicians, and care experts focused on helping professional and family caregivers enhance their caregiving skills and build stronger support networks.<\/p>\n
