Residents Rights month started off as Residents Rights Week in 1981. Today it’s a national event organized by the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-term Care. Honoring the month is a great way to keep the conversation and advocacy going in your local community, state, and the nation. It’s also a chance to recognize the advocates, professionals and residents who do so much important work around these rights.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rights are things that people can have or do. People with disabilities should be allowed to have and do all the same things as people without disabilities. When people understand their rights, they have better lives.
