Participants will be chosen by a team of parents, self-advocates, and professionals.<\/p>\n<h2>What is required of you?<\/h2>\n<p>You are expected to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in all two\u2010day trainings and complete all homework assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Attendance is required, from Friday at 12:30 p.m. to Saturday at 3pm. Only people selected to participate will be able to attend (with supports as needed). <strong>Aside from attendant care, additional family members and friends cannot attend sessions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Join in networking, advocacy activities, interviews, readings (available in various formats), and other projects.<\/li>\n<li>Develop and put in place a project that improves the lives of people with disabilities and their families.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange for any 1 on 1 support needed to attend, including arranging any training needed for caregivers to meet your support needs. Remember: support people are not Partners participants and should limit their role during the program to the direct supports of participants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Core Values<\/h2>\n<p>Core values are what a person or group of people believe that helps guide their life or work. Participants must agree to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/wi-bpdd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Core-Values.pdf\">core values<\/a> of the federal Developmental Disabilities Act. Nationwide, nearly 15,000 graduates are part of a growing network of community leaders and decision-makers serving on policymaking committees, commissions, and boards at local, state, and national levels.<\/p><h2>What is expected of participants?<\/h2><p>Partners are expected to make a commitment to:<\/p><ol><li>Attend all two-day sessions and complete all homework assignments. Attendance at all regular sessions is required, from Friday at 1 p.m. to Saturday at 4 p.m. Only individuals selected to participate in the program will be able to attend (with supports as needed). Aside from attendant care, additional family members do not attend sessions and should not plan on staying at the hotel with participants. The\u00a0upcoming session dates are listed in the application form.<\/li><li>Participate in networking, advocacy activities, interviews, readings (which are offered in alternative formats), and other projects.<\/li><li>Develop and implement a project that results in systems change that will improve the lives of people with disabilities and their families.<\/li><\/ol><h2>Core Values<\/h2><p>Participants agree to support core values laid out in the federal Developmental Disabilities Act.
