What is Person-Centered Planning and Thinking?<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Put simply, Person-Centered Planning (PCP) is a way to support people with disabilities to plan their life and the supports they need.\u00a0 By using person-centered approaches, people with disabilities are in charge of how they want their life to go. There are many tools that can be used to guide this planning.<\/p>\n

What is Employment First?<\/strong><\/p>
- A national movement that is helping states improve their economies by supporting businesses to find talent and meet their needs by hiring people with disabilities.<\/li>
- The intentional creation of policies and practices that result in a significant increase in the numbers of people with disabilities being employed in the community.<\/li>
- A policy initiative that promotes employment in the community at minimum wage or higher as the preferred outcome for publicly funded services for all working age citizens with disabilities.<\/li>
- Almost all 50 states are active in the movement. 34 states have policies that support Employment First, and 14 have Employment First legislation, including Wisconsin!<\/li><\/ul>

Employment First Partners and Ambassadors<\/strong><\/p>
WI Employment First (EF) Partners are community groups, schools, and organizations that engage their\u00a0local communities to increase integrated employment opportunities.\u00a0 EF Partners receive small grants from the WI BPDD to support their efforts.<\/p>
EF Partners often present to\u00a0service clubs and business groups, organize community conversations, hold legislative events and\u00a0town hall meetings, and educate people with disabilities and their families about having community jobs.<\/p>
Each EF Partner supports at\u00a0least two\u00a0WI Employment First Ambassadors\u00a0who present alongside the partner to share their stories about why a job in the community is so important to them.\u00a0Learn more about EF Ambassadors and find\u00a0EF Partner resources here<\/a>.<\/p>
