DESCRIPTION:Effective Communication with Plain Language: Training \nLearn how to use plain language to save time\, money\, work\, and frustration…and get better results! Plain Language skills can help you get your written or spoken message across quickly and clearly. These skills are useful to people in every field\, including the disability field. Plain language is communication your audience can understand the first time they read or hear it.  \n2-part Zoom Training \n\nThursday\, December 9 from 10 am to 12 noon\, and\nWednesday\, January 12 from 10 am to 11:30 am\n\nThis training is free\, but you must register and attend both sessions. \n*You’ll also get a short homework assignment to practice between Sessions 1 and 2. \n  \nRegistration deadline: December 8th \nWe encourage team members to attend together! \nPresented by: Cultural Linguistic Services\, Office of Human Resources\, UW-Madison \nPresenter: Jennifer Sell\, English Language Instructor and Trainer \n  \nSession 1 \nThis interactive 2-hour training will cover: \n\nwhat plain language is\, how you can use it\, and why it’s important.\nstrategies on word choice\, grammar use\, and design elements you can use right away for more accessible and effective written communication.\ntips for emails\, social media posts\, marketing materials\, and more!\n\nSession 2 \nThis interactive 1.5 hour training will include: \n\nreview and reflection on homework from Session 1.\npractice negotiating edits with other people.\nplain language strategies for effective verbal communication.\ntips for “making the case” for plain language in your workplace.\n\nThis 2-part Training is for:  \n\nDepartment of Health Services staff\nDepartment of Public Instruction staff\nDivision of Vocational Rehabilitation staff\nAging and Disability Resource Center staff\nManaged Care and IRIS staff\nEducators\n\n			\n				Register Here
