November shines a light on caregivers and Alzheimer’s Disease. November is Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness and Caregivers Month. President Ronald Reagan designated November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in 1983. At the time, fewer than 2 million Americans had Alzheimer’s; today, the number of people with the disease has soared to nearly 5.4 million. At the Annual Fall Caregiver Conference in Green Bay, the Mind and Memory Matters team provided information on intellectual/developmental disabilities and dementia, suggested specialized caregiving tips, and training on the NTG-EDSD tool.
